Donald Trump To Leave His Business, Focus On Presidency

President-elect Donald Trump tweeted that he would leave his business to focus on presidency and avoid any potential conflict of interest.

“I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump tweeted Wednesday.

Trump will hold a news conference on December 15 in New York City with his children to announce the decision.

“While I am not mandated to do this under the law, I feel it is visually important, as President, to in no way have a conflict of interest with my various businesses,” Trump added.

Trump added that the legal documents are being prepared “which take me completely out of business operations. The Presidency is a far more important task!”

The Trump Organization includes Trump’s business ventures and investments. Trump serves as chairman and president, a position he has said he will relinquish before taking office.

Among others, the Trump Organization has interests in real estate development, investing, brokerage, sales and marketing. It has 515 subsidiaries and entities with 264 of them bearing Trump’s name and another 54 including his initials.

During his campaign, Trump said he would hand over the Trump Organization to his three eldest children Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. But, skeptics say it would be tough for Trump to entirely avoid conflict of interest with ownership in more than 500 companies spanning multiple industries.
